Dawn Lundy Martin was awarded the Cave Canem Poetry Prize for her first poetry collection, A Gathering of Matter/A Matter of Gathering. Her second book, DISCIPLINE, was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the Lambda Literary Award. Her third collection of poems, Life in a Box is a Pretty Life, won the 2015 Lambda Literary Award. Her newest collection is Good Stock Strange Blood published by Coffee House Press. A founding member of the Black Took Collective, a group of experimental black poets, she is a Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh and Co-Director of the Center for African American Poetry & Poetics.
