Beth Alvarado

I am the author of Anthropologies: A Family Memoir (University of Iowa Press) and Not a Matter of Love and other stories (New Rivers Press.) I have lived in the Sonoran Borderlands for most of my life. My late husband was Mexican-American and I’ve been a member of his large family since I married him when I was nineteen. My essay "Water in the Desert," published in Guernica: A Journal of Art and Politics, is about the pollution of artesian wells on the south side of Tucson. My essay collection, Ordinary Devotions, is forthcoming from Autumn House Press in March 2019.
